Work With Me

Is Therapy For Me?

Human beings are built to survive. We come up with all sorts of ways to manage painful feelings and situations so that we can keep going. Unfortunately, some coping mechanisms come at great cost. Substance use, food restriction, binge eating, over-exercise, self-harm, and other behaviors might have initially helped you cope, but now you may be finding that these behaviors are harming more than they’re helping—for instance, causing problems in your relationships, at work, or at school.

The fact that you’re considering therapy means that something about these coping mechanisms isn’t working for you anymore. And yet, you may not be totally sure you want or need to change.

That’s perfectly okay. That’s what we will figure out together.

There also doesn’t need to be an “identifiable issue” that brings you to therapy. You may simply want to learn more about yourself, talk through a stressful situation, or understand why you’re “feeling stuck.”

Whether you’re still contemplating the decision to start therapy or you’re ready to take action and make changes, I will meet you where you are.

Fees

I offer free 15-minute phone or face-to-face consultations, during which you can learn more about what therapy is like and whether we would be a good fit together.

I accept many major commercial insurance plans. If I am not in your insurance network, I can provide a special document called a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. My out-of-pocket fee for individual therapy is $125 per session. However, I recognize the need to make therapy accessible to everyone regardless of financial status. We can discuss the options during your first session. If we cannot find a fee that will work for you, I will help connect you to low-cost options or to therapists who are in your insurance network.
